Kayser Space welcomes the BEEP Seasonal School to inspire the next gen

Education, research and industry came together at Kayser Space as part of the BEEP – Biology for Human Space Exploration Seasonal School, promoted by the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies (Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna) in Pisa.

As part of the programme, participants visited Kayser Space's headquarters in Livorno to gain first-hand insight into the technologies, expertise and engineering processes behind scientific research and human space exploration. The initiative reflects the company's long-standing commitment to fostering collaboration between academia and industry, creating opportunities for students to engage directly with professionals working at the forefront of the space sector.

A key moment of the visit was the seminar "Experiment Hardware and Facilities for Space Life Sciences", delivered by Michele Balsamo, Research & Development Manager at Kayser Space. Drawing on the company's decades of experience in developing systems for space missions, the seminar explored the engineering challenges behind life sciences research in microgravity and the journey from a scientific objective to the design of flight-ready experimental hardware.

Participants gained insight into the multidisciplinary expertise required to develop space experiments, including environmental control, automation, biological sample management, data acquisition and the high levels of reliability demanded by orbital missions.

For Kayser Space, initiatives such as BEEP represent more than educational activities.
